OLD and NEW BUSINESS:

1. Don reported that the Treasury “is not a whole lot different than it was last week.” Because of the weather, there hasn’t been much flying going on. We didn’t add any new members this week.

2. Don expressed his appreciation to everyone who comes to the Wednesday night meetings. He said it really means a lot to him that members would come out on these cold, wintery evenings and said he hopes the good attendance at the meetings continues. Of course, we always look forward to more members coming out every Wednesday evening for Chef Bob Dunn’s steaks followed by the meeting.

3. The Skyhawk hasn’t gone to Duke’s yet . . . but we’re hoping it can go down soon so it will be back and ready to go when the flying picks up.

4. Jim McCullough checked on the FARs re pilot qualifications to give demo rides, etc. at our flour drop contest on May 15 (held in conjunction with the “International Learn to Fly Day” sponsored by EAA, AOPA, and others.) Evidently, the pilot has to have at least 500 hours and be current. We’ll ask the Iowa DOT to add our event to their website; Doug will get us some free advertising in the Press-Citizen/Gazette, John will take care of getting us on KCRG’s website, and Tim will notify KCRG TV. We’ll have fun trying to hit a target with our flour bombs, and participating in the spot landing contest, eating food (what kind is yet to be determined), and much, much more. Donations will be accepted and will go to our scholarship fund.

5. General discussion was held re the June 6 poker run, $10 entry fee for pilots and passengers (one-half of which will be added to our scholarship fund and the other half going to the winners of high/low hands), prizes, etc.

6. Discussion was held re “Tiffinfest” that John Navara thinks will be held the second weekend in July and whether we want to do a fly-over, set up a booth, and give cool “trinkets” with our name on them . . . to promote Green Castle. All agreed it sounds like fun; John will tell the “Tiffinfest” people we’ll think about it.

Bob moved with second by Brett to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:54 PM.
