MINUTES OF THE MAY 12, 2010 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

The meeting was called to order by President Jim McCullough at 6:30 PM.

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, Tim Scheer, Terry Koehn, Karo Stigler

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Rita Orr, Jim Beeghly, Chris Lenz, Doug Weihe, Bob & Kathy Barry, Mark Eads

GUESTS PRESENT: Scholarship applicant Walker Olson

Minutes of the May 5, 2010 Board of Directors meeting weren’t available; however, if Terry can recall what happened, they may be available next week.

OLD BUSINESS:

1.   Don Nelson reported that the treasury “is recovering a little bit.”

2.   There are “little things here-and-there” regarding issues with our planes, but really nothing much at all.  The Ercoupe still isn’t at Duke’s as Duke’s not ready for it yet and we don’t want to leave it outside in the weather.  It will be ferried down when Duke lets us know he’s ready.

3.   Regarding the flour drop event scheduled for May 15, 2010, a “high tech test” was run this week, and it appears everything’s a “go.”  Discussion was held re food and the length and cost of the demo rides.  Bob/Kathy Barry are donating the food; discussion was held re beverages.  Donations, which go to the Bill Kimble Scholarship Fund, will graciously be accepted.  Discussion was also held re two-way radios and club members who are working at the flour drop wearing orange vests.  And finally, discussion was held re tables, chairs, clean-up before the event, filling popcorn bags with flour (Chris and Walker will do that tonight after the meeting), and the parking of planes and cars.  Besides local newspapers, notices/flyers have been placed on Craig’s list, schools, and convenience stores (thanks, Chris and Walker).

4.   Jim Beeghly advised that half-hour interviews of candidates for the scholarship will take place commencing at 6:30 Tuesday evening.

NEW BUSINESS:

No new members this week.

Bob Dunn moved with second by Brett Lenz to adjourn the meeting.  Vote taken; Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 6:57 PM.
