The meeting was called to order by President Tim Scheer at 6:35 p.m.
OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Jerry Smithey, Rick Treiber, and Karo Stigler
MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nelson, Bob Dunn, Brett Lenz, Joe DeMaria, Larry Clore, and Mark Eads.
The Minutes of the September 13 and 20, 2017 Board of Directors meetings were read by Karo. Rick moved with second by Jerry that the minutes be approved as read. Vote taken; Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Don reported on our financial status. Same as last week. We’re okay. All bills are paid except major on the Skyhawk.
Tim reported on the status of our airplanes. The new 172 isn’t back yet from major.
We have three new members: Richard Rowlang, an 88-year-old retired Rockwell engineer who soloed in a Champ but didn’t get his license; Jake Harnish, a commercial pilot; and Mike Dong, a UI student and student pilot. Welcome!
Tim reported he’s received a serious inquiry about our 150 that’s for sale. Hopefully, we’ll know more next week. If it sells, we’ll put the money into instrumentation for the new 172.
Mark reported we have six ground school students for this new session.
Jerry read an item that will go into the Kirkwood spring catalogue regarding the joint Green Castle/Kirkwood ground school that will be offered spring semester. Rick moved with second by Karo that we get ten plotters and E6Bs for the students to purchase . . . if they haven’t gotten them by first day of class. Vote taken; Motion carried.
The issue of avionics for the new 172 suggested by Nate at last week’s meeting is tabled until we see if the 150 sells.
SAVE THE DATE: Our new CFII, Nate Smith, and AOPA have put together a Rusty Pilot’s Seminar that will take place at Green Castle. AOPA’s Mike Gwinn will present the seminar on December 16, 2017 from 9:00-12:00. AOPA members may take the course at no charge; a fee is charged for non-AOPA members. More information will be provided at a later date. If you wish to sign up now, please log onto https://ww2.eventrebels.com/er/Registration. Donuts, bagels, coffee, and juice will be available in the morning, and a light lunch will be available at noon. Thanks, Nate, for putting this together!
Green Castle Foundation: Rick Treiber, president of the Foundation, gave us an update. If a donation check is received now, it will not be processed until we get our identification number; a receipt with that number on it will be sent to the donor(s) at that time. Checks should be made out to the Green Castle Aero Club Foundation.
Rick moved with second from Jerry to adjourn the meeting. Vote taken; Motion carried. Adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
