John Butler (JEB), a founding member of the GCAC, will be selling Stearman 49255 in the Spring of 2025. At 87, he believes it is time to provide others with the pleasure of owning this aircraft. JEB and colleagues restored 49255 from a Nebraska crop duster to a custom Stearman powered by a Pratt & Whitney 985 radial from Tulsa swinging a 9 ft Hamilton-Standard prop. The aircraft features BT wheels and disc brakes, a 24 V system, King radio, CHT gauge, turtle deck and wheel pants. It comes with 27 337 approval forms and is approved for aerobatics; air conditioning is standard equipment. A photo collection which details its restoration is available on request. If singularly or group owned, it would be nice to see 49255 giving rides and flying in the Iowa City area, making annual visits to the Stearman fly-in in Galesburg and Air Adventure. It will also be advertised in Trade-A-Plane and by the Stearman Restorers Association (SRA).
